This is the wonderfully and lovingly crafted quilt that Mrs. James, the PDMS art teacher, made for us to raffle off to help raise money for Ray Haigler. Ray is a Frech Horn player in the PHS band. In January, Ray was attending a bonfire and accidentally fell into the fire, suffering severe burns to his arms and torso. Ray was in the hospital for several weeks recovering from the burns. We will be raffling off this quilt at our concert on Thursday, March 1. All tickets will be sold for $2 or 3 tickets for $5. All proceeds go to the Haigler family to help pay Ray's medical bills.

Music Performance Assesment important dates and times

For all 7th and 8th grade students (None of this post is for 6th grade students- please disregard this if you are a 6th grade parent/student)
Concert dress requirements: ALL STUDENTS MUST BE DRESSED IN BLACK AND WHITE. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Ladies: Black dress shoes (preferably closed toed), black dress pants or skirt that is at least mid-calf (preferably pants due to the performances being on a stage- we want to reduce the risk of exposure), white blouse (not cream, no stripes, bows or decorations).
Gentlemen: Black dress shoes, black socks, black dress pants, black belt, white longsleeved button-up shirt (no polos) conservative tie (nothing that lights up, makes sounds or detracts from the student looking professional).

If you need assistance getting these items for your student due to financial difficulties please contact Mrs. Vitulli or Mr. Lukac.

March 1- MPA Preview performance. Piedmont High School Auditorium 7pm. All, 7th and 8th grade students will perform at this event. It is a required performance. Failure to attend could result in a failing grade for the 6 weeks.
March 14- MPA performance at Wingate University. Do not schedule anything for any time during this day. Our performance time could be as early as 8 (which would mean we would be at Wingate by 7ish) or as late as 5pm. It is essential that we have all students present for this important performance.

7th grade students ONLY:
February 21- 3:30-5pm- Required afterschool rehearsal for 7th grade students
March 1- 3:30- until... This is the day of the preview performance. 7th grade students will stay afterschool and be escorted to the HS auditorium to rehearse for the afternoon. Students will bring in $5 to pay for dinner (pizza, chips, dessert and drink). The students will bring their black and white to school that day to change into before the concert. More details will follow closer to the date. We will need a few parent volunteers to assist with escorting the students to the HS as well as to help feed them.
March 6- 3:30-5pm- Required afterschool rehearsal for 7th grade students.

Cookie Dough FAQ's

Your students have lots of great information in their heads about the cookie dough sale, but here are a few frequently asked questions and answers:

1. When does the cookie dough come in?

It will come in sometime after Thanksgiving break but before Christmas break. We will let you know the exact date as soon as we know.

2. Will my child be able to take it on the bus? No. You will have to come pick it up or arrange to have someone pick it up for you.

3. When does the fundraiser end? November 8.

4. Why cash and not checks?

Every year we lose around $1000 of our fundraiser money due to bad checks- cash is an easy way to avoid that.

5. If they do write a check who should they make it out to?

Piedmont Band Boosters. Also make sure to write your child's first name and grade in the memo portion of the check.

6. When is money due?

All money is due 1 week after delivery of the cookie dough. Students are welcome to turn in the money with their order form on November 8.

7. How do I turn in money?

Please place all money in a sealed envelope with your students name and how much money is in the envelope labeled on the outside. NO FUNDS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNLESS THEY ARE IN AN ENVELOPE.

I believe that's all the questions we normally get asked. If you have a question that your child can't answer or I have not addressed, please feel free to email Mrs. Vitulli or Mr. Lukac and ask.

Thanks!!!!!

Email List

Parents,
While we make our best effort to make sure the students take home important information to you, I think we can all agree that sometimes the locker or the bottoms of bookbags override those efforts. In an attempt to circumvent the dangers of the dreaded locker/bookbag monsters, we're going to try sending both a paper copy and an email, in hopes that somehow we can get this information to you. Please go to the link on the right hand side of this page and enter your email in the box. This will take you to our constant contact registration form. Unless you have a student in the HS band, you will only need to check the Middle School registration- in later years you will be able to update this registration when your child moves on to the high school. By registering your email address it will help us communicate better with you throughout the year.

Thank you!

Welcome to a new year!

Welcome Panthers! We're getting geared up for another fantastic year at Piedmont Middle School. Please check out the Band Handbook- we've made some changes so make sure to read the entire handbook. All band students will need their instrument on Monday, August 29. 6th grade students that ordered their instrument through Howren Music this past spring/summer, your instrument will be delivered to the school for you. Take out your instrument, dust it off and play a few notes before we see you on the first day of school. Enjoy the last bit of summer and we'll see you shortly!
